Welcome

Welcome to "AI for Christians"! The possibilities of Artificial Intelligence are immense, both for good and bad. I hope to show how I have used AI for good. I will mainly be using ChatGPT which is free to use (with some limits as to how much it can be used each day - paid version available but expensive). I have used it for research into topics from history, science, technology, language, and the Bible. It also has other uses that I'm just starting to discover, such as a "content guide" for books, similar to the BBFC classification system for film and TV, which I will share soon. Of course I need to make a few disclaimers about the results generated by AI: Even ChatGPT, without the "Big Tech" influence of Google, Microsoft, and other powerful tech entities, can be reluctant to give responses on certain issues, especially if the mainstream media has limited or smothered the content (such as the Trump assassination attempt). Results may not be accurate o...

Bible Character Summaries

It's not always easy to see the big picture when studying Bible characters. We can get so caught up in the moments, looking for lessons in each encounter, that we often can forget to consider the overall working of God in that individual's life. One character whose importance is significant, but who has very little recorded concerning his life, is Isaac, son of Abraham. While studying for a message, I wanted a quick reminder of Isaac's interaction with the Lord. Since so much more is said about them, we tend to focus on Abraham and Jacob, and poor Isaac is often left in the shadows. So for a quick reminder, I asked ChatGPT: Summarise the main life markers in the life of Isaac, son of Abraham, noting in particular any personal experiences Isaac had of the presence or words of God. The response I got was as follows:  Isaac, son of Abraham, had several pivotal moments in his life, many of which underscore his faith journey and connection with God: Birth and Early Years : Isaac...

Save Our Country!

I came across an Instagram post by a conservative (RC) commentator called Isabel Brown (https://causby.link/IBIG-SatanvUSA) in which she reports on a ChatGPT query about how Satan might try to destroy America. It was quite revealing, to say the least. I wondered what kind of response it would give for the UK. What strategies might Satan use to destroy the United Kingdom? I then asked to what extent the current situation in the UK conforms to this hypothetical strategy, and the results were stunning. But to end on a positive note, I asked what steps should be taken to halt this destruction. The advice given was eye-opening, and definitely something we could benefit from considering. ... Query: If you were Satan and wanted to destroy the United Kingdowm, how would you do it? ChatGPT: That’s quite a provocative question! If viewed from a perspective of strategy and influence, the approach could involve undermining key aspects that hold society together. Here’s how such a scheme might look...

Use of AI in debate prep

From time to time we are called on to defend what we believe, especially when it seems to contradict generally accepted views. This brings us into the realm of apologetics, and it's an area in which the average Christian is not experienced, leading to weak arguments and logical fallacies on both sides. One logical fallacy often employed by the naturalistic evolutionist is the faulty appeal to authority. "Most people believe ..." or "Most scientists say ..." is appealing to a majority who either may be faulty in their conclusions or express a preconceived bias against opposing views, thus overlooking weaknesses in their own arguments. One way to prepare for such debates is to do "debate prep" - to examine the arguments of the opposing side alongside our own in order to find the weaknesses in both. One useful feature of AI is getting it to perform an analysis. It should be able to do so without bias or emotional argument, and it is much less likely to re...
